Outreach Services Department

The Outreach Services Department includes Van Deliveries, Bookmobile and Books By Mail service.

Three satellite library locations have been established in these hub locations: Summerville, Springfield and Vaughan. Satellite library sites will be open to the public every three weeks afternoon and early evening increasing the convenience of library access to remote communities not served by a branch library. Patrons can pick up books they have requested, return items, and browse for great books to read and movies to watch.

Library patrons can search our online catalogue www.valleylibrary.ca of over 200,000 items to request materials or call our toll free number 1-866-922-0229 ext 234 and we'll be happy to help you with your reading needs!

Schedule:

Who is serviced by Van Deliveries?

The delivery van brings preselected material to institutions such as schools, day-cares and residential facilities. The van is used for "book deposits" in which a collection of library material is left with the institution for classroom or residential use. There is a three week lending period, and no overdue fines are incurred.

Who does the Bookmobile serve?

The Bookmobile serves some of the Annapolis Valley's outlying communities and neighborhoods, aiming at all ages and interests. The Bookmobile provides access to a wide variety of adult and children's fiction and non-fiction material. You can also find magazines, audio books, videos and DVDs on the shelves. If you see the Bookmobile parked with the OPEN flag up, please come on board!

What is the Books By Mail service?

Books By Mail is a free library outreach service provided for residents of the Annapolis Valley who live further than 10 kilometers from a library branch, or who are physically unable to visit a branch. Books are mailed return postage paid!
