Picture books for adults

I know most of you think picture books are for kids. For little kids. But I must protest and try to convince you that many picture books are just right for adults, too. Sure, they were probably published with children in mind, but when was the last time you sat down to enjoy a book filled with art? Picture books by definiton must be fairly short, which means that a good one will have succint text with a story that is wrapped up in about 32 pages. And they all have art. Beautiful art, some of them. I've created a list of some of my favourites for adults -- the ones that make me say, oh, I would love for my friends to read this.

Some of these books might bring a tear to your eye. Some will make you smile. Some will make you feel all warm and fuzzy. Place holds on a few of these to have on hand during the holidays, when you might need a little quiet break. Treat yourself to a picture book. Here's my list: Picture Books for Adults.

And if you get hooked on picture books, I have a few other lists to help you find the great ones, such as my Favourites of 2021, and Silent Books, otherwise known as Wordless Books.
