Some updates on our Digital Library
One year ago, as March Break was about to launch, we were so excited to offer a wide range of programs. And then, the Pandemic happened. Our libraries shut their doors. In order to give our patrons (that’s you, folks) access to as many resources as available, we quickly looked at how we could stay “open” and provide information and entertainment.
We already had Overdrive, which we knew was popular. And with over 5000 items being used on a monthly basis, it still is! And now magazines have been added, so Overdrive is even more enticing. If you haven’t downloaded the Libby App, you should try it out! There are eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines right in your hand.
We also added Hoopla, which offers not only eBooks and audiobooks, but movies and music. You can borrow up to 10 titles each month with Hoopla.
Both Overdrive and Hoopla are free for our library card holders to use. And the good news is that we are keeping our subscriptions to both of these great resources.
During the library shut-down, we also purchased a few other resources. These were welcomed and got use when we first were closed, and no-one knew how long we would be closed. Now that our libraries are open again, the use of these resources has slacked off. And since they are expensive, we have decided to discontinue them.
We thought we’d give you a chance to use them before they are gone! Here’s the date when each of them will expire:
- Rocket Languages March 27
- Chilton's March 31
- LinkedIn (Lynda.com) April 5
- Creative Bug June 1
Head to our Digital Library to find these all in one handy place.
See you at the library, in real life or virtually!
